 Introduction

"Who are you?"

Hello! My name is Christian, I'm a student at The Hertfordshire University Creative School of Arts. I like drawing, writing stories, fashion, and have had an interest in video games and animation since a young age. My style of writing these blogs is going to be fairly to the point, so try not to put your hopes too high for any extreme levels of insight and analysis on any of my work.


"Why are you taking this course?"

My interest in Digital Media Design is mainly related to how it can help me both enhance my own work in ways I wouldn't have the skills for otherwise, and to help me widen my options for work in the ever-growing demand for digital media jobs. I'm also very interested in the ways that this course can help me to advance my ability to bring my stories into reality, something I have been doing since my early teens. I also previously in my time at Six Form took an A-Level in digital media, coming out at the end with a Distinction, so I reckoned that continuing with that line of study was my best bet for the foreseeable future.


"Where do you see yourself in 3 years?"

Over the next 3 years of study at Herts University, my hope for what I will achieve is to widen my skillset for media production, grow as an artist and animator, learn more about the industry and better prepare myself for the working world, and successfully end my time here as a fully fledged digital media production professional. Not failing all my courses would also be a nice goal to meet, fingers crossed.

Animating in Photoshop 2 - 17/11/2023

 Today in Photoshop continuing onward from our bouncing ball project, we moved onto more complicated animation, namely being the animating of a simple walk cycle. To do this we used a template from AngryAnimator.com as a base for our initial animation. Below is shown the template we used for our initial animation. To animate our person taking each step we first separated each part of their body into their own layer, the head, the torso, and front and back arms and legs. This was done to make animating far easier and to prevent unwanted squash when warping the limbs, additionally converting each layer into a smart object for easier animating . In order to make the arms and legs move we utilised Photoshop's puppet warp tool in order to establish joints on the arms and legs to manipulate and animate. Animate Future Stories Piece Documentation

 For my Adobe Animate project for our Future Stories assignment I chose to do a rendition of the 3 Little Pigs story modified to be an educational interactive story for children about Internet Safety and Password Security. My initial design process was done by drawing out the designs for the characters, the story structure and the movement of assets in animate in Adobe Photoshop, which can be seen below. The wolf was designed to be more angular, mainly made up of triangles to signify danger, also being a harsh red colour with yellow added on his ears and grin. The three pigs all share the same base body structures, but being colour coded and with different shaped heads, each chosen to signify the stability of each pig's house, or in the case of my story, passwords.  The first big has a circular head and is sacredly, with circles not being very stable shapes.
